1. Definitions & Agreement

In these Terms of Service, "JourneyAotearoa", "we", "us", or "our" refers to JourneyAotearoa Ltd. "Client", "traveller", or "you" refers to any individual accessing our digital articles, downloading field maps, or requesting custom expedition roadmaps. By using our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Nature of Advisory Services

JourneyAotearoa provides independent travel journalism, cultural insights, and bespoke route consulting. We are an advisory collective, not a licensed commercial carrier or direct passenger transport operator. We do not issue flight tickets, rental car contracts, or commercial marine charters directly; transactions for accommodation, rentals, and DOC permits occur directly between you and the respective third-party provider.

3. Traveller Responsibilities & Backcountry Risk

New Zealand's alpine and coastal environments carry inherent natural hazards, including sudden temperature drops, flash flooding, slips, and volcanic seismic events. You acknowledge that:

• You are solely responsible for ensuring your physical fitness matches chosen tramping tracks.
• You must monitor Waka Kotahi (NZTA) road warnings and Metservice meteorological forecasts daily.
• You will adhere to the Tiaki Promise, observing all fire bans, waste regulations, and wildlife separation distances.

4. Intellectual Property

All editorial prose, custom trail blueprints, graphics, and proprietary itinerary compilations are the copyright of JourneyAotearoa Ltd. Content may not be scraped, resold, mirrored, or repurposed for commercial travel packages without our prior written consent.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand consumer law, JourneyAotearoa Ltd shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from road closures, national park permit cancellations, equipment failures, adverse weather, or injuries sustained while undertaking advised routes.

6. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These terms are governed exclusively by the laws of New Zealand. Any dispute arising in connection with our services shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of New Zealand.
